Services
The care provided on a full-time, part-time, and/or visit, permits an individual to recover from illness or surgery in the comfort of home, hospital, and/or nursing home which encourages the client to remain independent and at home while providing for primary care givers.
Service provided by Nursing Management, Inc. includes the following:
Private Duty Nursing
Provides professional care by RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and PCAs at home or in hospital, hospice, IV Therapy on an as needed or continual basis.
Pediatric Nursing
Offers private duty skilled nursing care in the home to children with special needs such as those who are on ventilators or those with tracheotomies and require suctioning and apnea monitoring. We also provide respite care to supplement parental care in the home or hospital. We provide care for terminally ill children that need around the clock monitoring.
Assisted Daily Living Care
Offers personal care service with Certified Nursing Assistants, Personal Care Assistants and Companions. Duties include Activities of Daily Living, laundry, shopping, assist with meals, light housekeeping, escorts to appointments, medications reminders and other request duties.
Companion Care/ Respite Care
Provides socialization, companionship and comfort to individuals that may not be left alone.
Post-Operative Care
Provides quality nursing and concierge services to support patients when recovering from a specific medical event in the hospital, home or hotel setting.
In-Facility Care
Provides assistance while admitted to a hospital, nursing home or rehabilitation facility. Certified Nursing Assistants or Patient Care Assistants will offer assistance with Activities of Daily Living, Safety Precautions, Companionship and other requested duties.
Awake and Ready Care & Fluff and Tuck Care
Provides assistance to get ready for the day or night. Duties may include bathing, grooming, personal hygiene and meal preparation. Length of care is 1-2 hours.
Vacation Care
Provides a complete range of professional healthcare services while you are on your vacation in hotels, resorts or condominiums.
Medicaid Waiver Program -
Mentally Retarded/Developmentally Disabled In-Home Nursing, Companion and Attendant Care Services
Provide services to individuals who would require the level of care found in an intermediate care facility. The clients are able to remain at home and receive care because of this program. Clients must meet eligibility for services.
Mentally Retarded/Developmentally disabled Waiver (MR/DD)
The MR/DD Waiver provides services to individuals whom, but for the provision of home and community-based services, would require placement in an Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR). Individuals in this program must qualify for one of the following eligibility categories: SSI, TANF, Disable Child Living at Home, Poverty Level, Age and Disabled (PLAD), or income up to 300% of the SSI Federal Benefit Rate.
The MR/DD Waiver is administered directly by the Department of Mental Health, Bureau of Mental Retardation. The department, through its regional centers, provides case management services and through an assessment process makes referrals for the following services: In-Home Respite, ICF/MR Respite, Community Respite, Residential Habilitation, Day Habilitation, Prevocational Services, Supported Employment, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, Language and Hearing Therapy, Specialized Medical Supplies, Behavioral Support/Interventions, Attendant Care Services.
This statewide program is currently limited to 1050 beneficiaries for the fiscal year 2001. The CLTC Division is requesting an amendment from the Health Care Financing Administration to allow more beneficiaries to be served.
Medicaid Waiver Program –
Elderly and Disabled Homemaker
Provides services to individual over the age of 21 who would require the level of care found in a nursing facility. The clients must meet Medicaid Eligibility as SSI recipients.
Elderly and Disabled Waiver
The Elderly and Disabled Waiver program provides home and community-based services to individuals over the age of 21 who, but for the provision of such services, would require the level of care provided in a nursing facility. Beneficiaries of this waiver must qualify for Medicaid as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries or meet the income and resource eligibility requirements for Poverty Level, Age and Disabled (PLADS): income level up to 300% for the SSI Federal Benefit Rate and meet medical criteria for the program. Individuals must also have deficits in at least three of their activities of daily living.
The Elderly and Disabled Waiver program is administered directly by the Community Long Term Care Division (CLTC). Case Management services are provided by the Planning and Development Districts. The case management team is composed of a registered nurse and a licensed social worker who are responsible for identifying, screening and completing an assessment on individuals in need of at-home services. Upon approval the CLTC, the case managers can refer qualified individuals to the following services: adult day health care, home-delivered meals, homemaker services, escorted transportation, institutional respite services, in-home respite, and expanded home health visits.
Medicaid Waiver Program –

AAA – National Family Caregiver Support Program
Provides temporary relief time for the primary caregiver of an ill, frail, functionally impaired, older client who requires constant in-home care. Clients must meet eligibility for services.
Veteran’s Affairs Respite Program
Provides temporary relief time for the primary caregiver of an ill, frail, functionally impaired veteran who requires constant in-home care. Clients must meet eligibility for services.
Health systems of MS – Private Duty Nursing-Medicaid
Provided to children under the age of 21 who require skilled nursing care for treatments, therapy and procedures. Clients must meet eligibility for services.
Private Duty Nursing – EPSDT Program
General Guidelines
The Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) provides coverage for private duty nursing services through the EPSDT program for Mississippi Medicaid Beneficiaries under the age of 21, in compliance with Section 1902(a)(43) and 1905(a)(4)(B) of the SSA and 42 CFR 441.50 and 440.80. Private duty nursing services must be in compliance with Mississippi Medicaid Policies and Procedures, and federal/state regulations governing the practice of Private Duty Nursing in the State of Mississippi.
Prior to services being rendered, the Peer Review Organization (PRO) must authorize private duty nursing services.
Definition
Private duty nursing is defined as extended nursing services (up to 8 hours daily) available to Medicaid beneficiaries under the age of 21 who require more individual and continuous care than is available under the home health benefit. These services provided are:

By a registered nurse (RN) or license practical nurse (LPN)

Under the direction of the beneficiary’s physician; and

In the beneficiary’s home
Level of Service
The level of service required (Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse) should be determined based on medical necessity and state regulations governing the types of duties allowed to be performed under each type of license.
Referrals
To be eligible for benefits, referrals for private duty nursing services must be ordered by the patient’s primary physician or appropriate specialist such as a pulmonologist or cardiologist.
Evaluation
Beneficiaries shall be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, based on a physician treatment plan, beneficiary condition, and medical necessity as determined by medical and social criteria outlined in subsequent photographs.
Physician Treatment Plan
Private duty nursing agencies are required to submit a Plan of Care Form to the PRO at least two weeks prior to the initiation of services. The physician must sign the treatment plan.
Homemakers
Assist in running errands, cleaning house, laundry, assist with activities of daily living, meal planning and preparation and shopping.
Hotel & Resort Kidz-Keepers
Provides in room babysitting services for the Gulf Coast Area’s hotels and resorts.
Kidz-Keepers
Is a child care provider on a PRN, as needed basis, for a night out, to stay home with a sick child.
Mother’s Helper
Provides assistance in feeding, bathing, dressing and changing for your new addition. They will tend to all of your baby’s needs while you regain your strength.
Supplemental Staffing Program
Has been providing quality health care professionals from the highly skilled ICU nurse to experienced CNAs for every type of health care facility. The various types of facilities staffed by NMI include hospitals, physician offices and clinics, nursing homes, intermediate care facilities, Quality Assurance nurses, educational and health screening training and in-services, and industrial and occupational settings. The staffing can be PRN, as a one time need; short and long term contracts are always available.
